Hey, I'm Katie!
My name is Katie O’Shea, and I am an artist and designer based in the San Francisco Bay Area. I have spent the past five years working as a professional artist, creating patterns and illustrations for brands around the world. Prior to this, I worked as a professional graphic designer and hold a degree in Graphic Design from the Rhode Island School of Design.
My artwork has been licensed for fabric, wallpaper, stationery, and home decor by companies worldwide. I have also illustrated books, wall calendars, and puzzles. My passion is creating patterns that are distinctive, visually engaging, and stand apart from conventional pattern design.
In this course, I will share my signature approach to pattern design, emphasizing the creation of original artwork and the importance of developing your own recognizable style.

Course Content
The course has 6 modules for 5+ hours of learning and practicing. It also includes full-length artwork tutorials! You can pause and replay the videos as much as you want. The course is suitable for everyone, teens, adults and children because there is no explicit content. It would be best to take the course in order, because it will start from the basics to lessons at a more advanced level such as digitizing your patterns.

Let me tell you more about my methodology and the platform structure...
My process combines both analog and digital techniques, beginning with sketching, moving into painting, and then transitioning into digitizing.
I walk through each step—from gathering inspiration to developing the layout and finalizing the design.
I demonstrate how I make corrections and adjustments to ensure that the patterns flow continuously.
I also discuss color variations and show how designs can be visualized on real-world products by uploading them to various print-on-demand platforms.
The course concludes with practical advice for emerging artists and creatives on how to increase the visibility of their work.
All videos are in FULL HD and you can adjust the speed, audio and quality. Also, you can watch whenever and wherever you wish!

Approaching a new technique means first learning how best to use the tools and materials at your disposal. We will look together at the materials, basic techniques, and knowledge needed to begin this journey.
Practical exercises
Theory is important, but what makes you a true artist is practice... Lots of practice! You'll find lots of exercises to get started with and from which to get inspiration. I will show you some tricks that will help set up your personal practice.
